Catalyst libraries

Catalyst libraries

Choosing the best catalyst is essential to a successful metathesis and is not always self-evident.

As a matter of fact, depending on the substrate you wish to transform, the most active catalyst won’t necessarily lead to the best yield.

For this reason being able to choose among a wide catalyst library is critical. That's why we still carry on research to increase the number of alternative catalysts.

New catalysts are designed thanks to structural modifications, which may occur on two different parts of the molecule: the NHC ligand or the the styrenylether framework. Using new ligands from recent work and different modulations on those two molecular sites, we were able to build a wide catalyst library.

It now offers more than 50 different Ru-complexes presenting a broad range of characteristics and divided into three series.

Three new catalyst series

M7x-series : These catalysts present a good stability and a modular activity, which allow them to reach better yields. Additionnally, they exhibit extremely low ruthenium contamination in the final product (< 5 ppm).

M8x-series : These catalysts present a good stability and a wider range of activities. We also have the possibility to anchor them on various supports through the 'R2' group.

More than 30 different M8x catalysts are available up to now.

Supported catalysts : the first generation of ionic-tagged supported catalysts is now commercially available.

Upgraded versions will come soon.
